The story about the world’s largest beef packer – Brazilian owned company JBS – continues to unfold. JBS will sell all of its South American beef processing assets outside of Brazil, according to media reports. The company is facing repercussions from a recent corruption crisis.
“We also learned that the government of Brazil has frozen some of JBS’s assets accusing the company of being engaged in insider trading” reports Bill Bullard with R-CALF USDA.
“And we’ve learned that the agreement to protect the Rain Forest in Brazil has been violated by JBS, which continues to purchase cattle even though they are known to originate in regions that have been cleared of the Rain Forest.”
He says R-CALF has submitted a formal request to President Trump, Attorney General Jeff Sessions and Ag Secretary Sonny Perdue to investigate JBS’s business dealings in the U.S. Listen to Bullard’s comments here:
