The American cattle industry is optimistic that U.S. beef exports will resume with China after President Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping reportedly reached an agreement to end the ban.
China had already removed a ban on some U.S. beef products last year. The barricade was put in place after a case of BSE was found in Washington state.
“The country is the world’s second-biggest beef buyer after rapid economic growth over the past decade created an expanding middle class that can afford more protein in their diets,” Bloomberg reports.
